Social Researcher @ Edible Edinburgh Food Festival at UoE Department for Social Responsibility and Sustainability

An opportunity to improve your skills in evaluation, communication and social research at the city’s largest food event in 2013.

Date 5 Oct 2013 (6 hours)

An opportunity to improve your skills in evaluation, communication and social research at the city’s largest food event aiming to feed 5,000 people - The Edible Edinburgh Festival (organised by Edinburgh City Council, University of Edinburgh & Nourish Scotland). 5,000 delicious free meals will be created by celebrity chefs and community groups from ingredients that might otherwise have been thrown away. The festival is for all who enjoy good food and are keen to minimise food waste.

The festival will raise the public's awareness of the whole food agenda and provide everyone with an opportunity to contribute to a big conversation about what Edinburgh should do to become a sustainable food city in the coming years and decades.

This is where you come in… on Saturday October 5 from 11AM to 4PM, we need enthusiastic and reliable volunteers to engage with the public and collate their ideas about Edinburgh’s path to becoming a sustainable food city as well as their feedback for the event itself.

• Talk with people at the festival about their experience of the event while gathering their thoughts on actions Edinburgh should take to become a sustainable food city.
• Use the questionnaire we provide you with as a guide of what to ask when talking to the festival goers. This will gauge the success of the event and inform Edinburgh City Council’s public consultation on the potential of Edinburgh becoming a sustainable food city.
• Record data gathered on computers provided at the event.
